amazing how far a bit of commitment to a project can take you, very inspirational video. Big Grin

The only downside though is that now i want to go and sped mega $$$ on a cnc machine and all the rest to build my own bikes, so it is officially their fault when i lose my house because all my money went on amazing bits of machinery.

thats an insane amount of commitment in my books, just saying. but that is a sick video

They could have just made the program then brought it to a machine shop
  • + 9
flag bendy (Oct 4, 2011 at 9:34)
why do that if you have enough money to buy the machines for yourself and then you have unlimited use whenever you want. Also it makes a nice ornament by the window

Thats inspiring. I love the shape of the frame, the design, the look. I love everything about it. I would love to have one as an all mountain bike for sure.

I think im gonna have to do something like this in the next 15 to 20 years,... by then ill be a skilled machinist, and hopefully have some expendable income! Imagine the feeling of riding a bike that YOU designed, and YOU built for the first time... I want that... Smile
  • + 1
flag Maltesian (Oct 6, 2011 at 12:55)
Yea, there is a lot going on in that video, years of acquiring the necessary skills, time to use them, and the money to allow it. In the end, I think all of that is really hard to come by. Which makes something like this awesome. There is a reason why most colleges offer manufacturing technology programs because you cant learn everything by simply buying a CNC machine.
  • + 1
flag Mountain-Manic (Oct 6, 2011 at 22:23)
I totally agree with you, im a high school senior, and I started my machinist training last year second semester. My plan is to continue my training after high school at a local community college that has a really nice shop with some top end machines. The best part is that i'll be able to skip the "Intro to Machining" course and go straight to advanced machining because my vocational school, (for machining at least), works with the college, allowing me to transfer credits so long as I have a B or better. Smile

Machining is a trade that will drive you mad when you scrap, and make you feel just amazing for getting a part dead on. I love the challenge!

Awesome bike! And Trail! But did anyone notice that it looked like the rear suspension didn't have much action. Looked like he was riding a hard tail. But that's just my visual opinion. I think they have done something amazing, regardless.

flag Lehel-NS (Oct 4, 2011 at 1:12)
Yeah, at 5.20 - 5.40 (slow mo) you can barely see any suspension movement?!

flag andyf7 (Oct 4, 2011 at 1:32)
was mostly under braking it seemed to be affected but yer i noticed it too.
  • + 6
flag EddyDave (Oct 4, 2011 at 3:06)
Glad its not just me who noticed that.
Is it me or did it look a little awkward?

All that said its seriously impressive for a "home made" bike! Nice job
  • + 7
flag norm (Oct 4, 2011 at 7:11)
I noticed it too but i think you got to take in account for rider set up. Also another factor is the choice in air shock. I've used a lot of different shocks and One of things I've noticed with air shocks, if you don't have adjustable bottom out volume and pressure, getting enough sag without always bottoming out is a real pain in the ass especially on none floating pivot bikes like 4 bar and single pivots.
  • + 3
flag andyf7 (Oct 4, 2011 at 7:20)
either way i wouldn't know where to start on creating and making my own frame so fair play!!
  • + 2
flag norm (Oct 4, 2011 at 7:21)
Actually i bet you could make that shock work with that frame a lot better if there was a air volume spacer installed and the air pressure reduced by roughly 10 PSI. You would get a lot more small bump compliance and it would ramp up before bottoming out.

flag jjm290rulesman (Oct 4, 2011 at 9:23)
i really like that frame, i want one, anyone got a cnc machine that i can borrow?
  • + 4
flag Ploutre (Oct 4, 2011 at 12:44)
If I remember well, they plan on going in production in next spring ...

As for the suspension, yes it seemed really stiff and I have no explanation to that. So far, all the reviews on the French forum where it all started (velovert), few people have been testing that bike and they were really thrilled by how it handled and rode ... So I wish them the best and I wish I had more money at the same time Razz

all respect for the commitment, as im doing the same thing at the moment too (still prototyping, playing with shock locations etc) the angle that the shock is on coupled with the lenght if the actuating arm will mean that a very large input is needed to make the shock move at all, hense all the posts about the rear travel, to keep the shock position on the frame the shock and the rear triangle upper arm and shock mount on the actuation arm could be swopped to make it as bit more supple.

really nice frame tho

a fox RP rear shock without piggy back? with that kind of riding, i hope the rear shock didn't take it too hard or the frame itself.

props to the frame builder! his hard work and dedication pulled off. hopefully, they can make a video how this frame is different from all the others out there.

On top of that they manage an awesome video as well.
